Anybody knows of a good place to get used baseball pitching machines?
I'd contact a local batting cage or local college and see if they're willing to donate/sell some of their used equipment.

the ones at batting cages. can they only throw fastballs?? or can they throw curve balls, sliders, and other breaking balls as well??
i don't know of a batting cage that throws anything besides straight fastballs. jugs machines on the other hand can pretty much throw everything except a knuckle ball.

My boyfriend used to play baseball as an adolescent and has been wanting to try out his skills again for some time now, but we can't seem to find any public facilities as described above!
The answer is no.
Im looking to buying one for my bf. Anything else i could throw in with the gift? Ideas?
I would think 200-400 dollars at anyone sporting goods store. A gift you could throw in could be a batting cage (If he has a backyard) they range around $500 a single cage.

The Axis is a compact, spin-balanced single wheel design that is a consistent performer. The ATEC patented Center-of-Gravity design allows quick and effortless pitch selection. Whether throwing its arsenal of pitches or running a series of defensive fielding drills, the Axis will maximize your practice time. It pitches up to 70 mph for baseball, and 65 mph for softball, and the Axis delivers consistent fastballs, drop curves, sliders and every breaking pitch in between, left or right-handed. With an optional conversion kit, the Axis can switch from baseball to softball, or vise versa, in a matter of seconds! The built in LCD display gives instant feedback on the variety of pitches that the Axis can deliver. It's especially useful for softball players, as it can throw accurate drops, risers and curves from the proper perspective with reliable consistency.
